If you have yahoo as your home page, or perhaps were just passing by a couple of minutes before I just posted, you probably already saw this, but I thought I might as well mention it anyway since I'm a sucker for kites.
Well, for some reason or another, some other person in this world thought, "Hey, wouldn't it be neat if we had kites that could loop, swoop, and do barrel rolls like an airplane or a raptor or something? Or maybe some sort of dinosaur kite or geometric kite that could be used in a kite battle..." and decided, very much unlike the Sage of Think-Everything-Do-Nothing (AKA, me), to go and build themselves some. Man, I should have designed and patented these ideas; I could have been a millionaire! ...Yeah...right. -_-
Well I've said it before, I'll say it again (it probably won't be the last time...):
"Aw, man, they 'stole' my idea!" :(
OK, for those of you unfamiliar with how the "rrc-Universe" works, I tend to (and by tend to, I mean like, ALL THE TIME) think of all these great ideas, store them, and... do nothing with them. Maybe rant about them a bit, write about them/write them down, draw a sketch or two or two dozen, but in the end, they just end up in the little Indiana Jones/X-Files-esque boxed-up, hidden things room of my brain (and my actual room) and gather a nice cozy blanket of dust.
Then I get to see them resurface 2, 5, 10 years later as the upcoming summer blockbuster (which would certainly have been a MASTERPIECE in my hands, A MASTERPIECE I TELL YOU!). Or as a poorly marketed but awesome book series (But if the PR had been up to ME...). Or as the latest new technology coming out (OK, is someone watching me? O.o). Or as the new "extreme kites" featured on yahoo. Yeah, now do you see why I'm paranoid? (Or does everyone just get these moments constantly? O.O)
Oh well, my dream is to someday be so ahead of the curve, no one will ever be able to think of it simultaneously. Or perhaps I will create something entirely original. And no, I don't really care if that's actually possible (thank you sir/madam "There's nothing new under the sun" for raining on my parade here -_-) I mean, what's a little reality compared to a lifelong, megalomania-fueled ambition to bend the very Fabric of Actually-Possible-Things?
Anyway, I just realized that this is less a reblog and more a rant with a link attached to it, so sorry about tricking you all and such like that. ^J^ Hopefully the crushing oppression of reality smothering my nigh delusional hopes and dreams was amusing enough to make up for it. :)
So yeah, here's where you can look at the pretty [EXTREME!!!!] kite and all...
