Author's Light

From the day before yesterday. That soft, cheerful new light is awfully pretty, isn't it? Gives me a pounding head ache almost every time I see it, because it usually means I've stayed up the whole night and am just going to sleep. I still love seeing it, though. It's Author's Light, and it's got a light, fluffy buzz like cotton candy to the brain.

Alleyway Vignette, an Excerpt

I stumbled into the side of the alley way, rubbing my shaking shoulder against the rough, cold walls. I shuddered. Dropped to the ground. Collapsed like a cheap table with too much weight placed upon it. I moaned. A pathetically long, wailing moan, wishing someone would take notice.

I whimpered softly and fell silent, listening for an answer in the bustling darkness, feeling the people all around me shuffle through the night. The streets ached and throbbed with a couple million hearts beating, a couple thousand hearts breaking, and a couple hundred hearts stopping in the cool, ridged, easy darkness. People living and moving and working and waiting and crying and sighing and laughing and screaming and dying. The world was loud enough without my voice. The world was quite full enough without me.

I was still and quiet, feeling the place pulling me in. Feeling my presence being erased, breath by breath...

I screamed.

I shrieked at the night, as if someone was listening for me, as if the city could hear my cry.

It wasn't until I emptied my lungs and lay there, gasping, that I realized the truth; the city could hear me. But it did not care.

The Diva Dance Opera (and Mad Song) sung by Inva Mula-Tchako/ The Dance Diva Opera sung by Laura "disneydiva7"

This is totally old news, but I was watching The Fifth Element  for the first time last night, and this part of the movie blew me away. Her Voice. Is. Incredible.

The second video are for those of you who still hold to the belief that her voice was auto-tuned. This girl recreated the ending part of the song, proving that it was humanly possible, and showing off her gorgeous voice and amazing talent in the process. Enjoy ;).

Laura, no last name given, aka disneydiva7's video.

Note: there seems to be some dissonance of information on the matter of the how the song was sung and edited and whether some notes of  Ms. Inva's singing were fused together post production, but I think I'm going to stick to Ms. Laura's demonstration until I find more solid evidence against it. Thank you. :) (it actually matters somewhat little to me as long as it's true she sang all of the notes [which I am very certain of]; it's still an amazing sound to behold, auditory-wise.)

The Freak

Of all the internet photos and images I've found over the years, this one here is one of my favorites. This woman had her tattoos back when tattooed woman were self-made sideshow freaks. And might I say, her tattoos are lovely.

Happy Friday the 13th y'all.

Reblog--- The Most Beautiful Spider in the World

"People often ask, who is the most beautiful spider in the world? You are lucky, because I know the answer – it’s the Jumping Spider! (a.k.a Salticidae) I have to admit, I’m being a bit subjective here, because there haven’t been any spider beauty contests yet. This little spider disprove the stereotype about spiders being ugly and scary (anyone with arachnophobia here?).Jumpers beauty secret is his 8 big eyes, and besides looking very cute, this little creature is also a very curious one..."---From BoredPanda.

Read the original article here. (Believe me, it's worth it; there are more pictures on the original post, along with some facts about jumping spiders.)

Personally I couldn't agree more (though I think all spiders are beautiful). and goodness, these photos are fantastic! I just had to share. :)
